You CAN in fact eat pasta every day and still maintain a good weight! This has been my argument for years now! Italy is the home of bread and pasta! Italians are not obese people! Yet here in America, we are all told to cut out bread and pasta because it makes you fat. WHAT??? No! It is not what makes us fat, it is the chemicals and junk they put in our pasta and breads! I follow an Italian nutritionist on TikTok and he literally said what I have been arguing all these years! It is simply the pasta that we are eating, the breads we are eating. You have to buy (or make) the right kinds of pasta! In this blog, I am going to share with you what we should be eating because I am here to tell you that life is too short for me to give up my bread and pasta!

The Italian Secret: It’s All About Quality
The secret lies in the quality. In Italy, pasta is more than just food; it’s a culinary art form. The quality of pasta in Italy is vastly different from what we often find on American supermarket shelves. Italian pasta is typically made with fewer, simpler ingredients, and the process of making it retains more of the natural nutrients. It’s not just about eating pasta; it’s about eating the right kind of pasta.
Choosing the Right Pasta: Your Guide to Healthier Options
This is a list/guide that he shared on what pastas we should try and purchase:
1. Needs to cost over $2 a box. Simple fact!
2. Try and avoid pasta with grains from America
3. Stay away from Barilla. This is Italian and better than American, but still, as he said, crap.
4. His go-to is Checo. The others areMolisana, Rumo, and Lido.
5. The higher-end pastas he recommends: Verde and Roostika Lada Brutso
6. It is best if it reads extra virgin olive oil, bronze cut, cooking time should be more than 10 minutes.
Beyond the Pasta: Avoiding Processed Additives
The villain in our pasta drama isn’t the pasta itself; it’s what’s often done to it, especially in the U.S. Many commercial pasta varieties are loaded with additives and made from over-processed grains, stripping away the natural goodness of the wheat. When choosing pasta, look for brands with a short list of recognizable ingredients, or better yet, go for Italian imports that adhere to traditional pasta-making methods.

So, there you have it: Pasta can definitely be a part of your daily diet without jeopardizing your health. I am happy to have my argument justified LOL! It’s all about choosing the right kind and embracing the Italian way of enjoying pasta — as a part of a balanced and wholesome meal. Buon appetito!
